UPDATED 08/19/08
For thirty years I have served our country as a combat Vietnam veteran, Border Patrol Agent, an Immigration Officer and most recently as the District Chairman for the Republican Party and now, it would be an honor to serve as your representative to the Arizona Legislature district 29.
I have chosen to run for the House of Representatives District 29 because I am concerned that we are not focusing on the areas that have historically made our state strong. Instead of helping us, our government is placing immense burden upon us. I have watched our economy decline, our schools drop to being ranked 50th of all states, our taxes increase, immigration become a significant problem and crime continuing on a rapid rise. All of this has especially increased over the last few years. This course must change!
In the past thirty
years, I have earned the knowledge and the experience necessary to make these
changes. If I am elected, I will respect that fact that you placed your trust in
me to represent you and only promise what I’m sure I can deliver; I will listen
to your concerns and work hard to find solutions.
I look forward to
meeting you and hearing about your concerns. I would appreciate your input and
support.
I believe I am the strongest candidate and best suited to be your
representative because:
· I have lived in Arizona over the past 30 years since 1975 until the present (except during portions of my work for the Federal Government.)
· My experience is extensive. In fact, I have more years of experience than several of the candidates have been alive. I know how to motivate all involved and get the legislation passed to improve our community.
· I have a degree in both Economics and Political Science. I not only understand the problems we are facing, I can bring the solutions to improve our economic conditions.
· I am a combat Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. I am the only combat veteran of all the candidates. I know what it is like to be deployed to a combat zone and experienced the problems that occur because of the deployment, not only to the military personnel but their families. With Davis Monthan AFB being the largest military facility in our area I want to be the legislative voice for this group of military personnel, their families and all veterans. These individuals should have the legislative representation they deserve.
· My experience as both a Border Patrol Agent and an Immigration Officer gives me a unique prospective of the issue of “Securing Our Border.” Understanding that this is primarily a federal issue and that jurisdictional issues between the federal and state government exist, I can bring a balanced approach to enacting legislation to address those issues that the state has authority and control.
It is experience and understanding of the issues and problems that make an individual a good legislator. I have experience that counts
